Our Founder
The Master's Men family suffered a tremendous loss on the morning of November 9, 2004, with the death of our founder, director and arranger, Rudy Partin. The group had just returned from a weekend retreat in Wrightsville Beach where we were immersed in God's music from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
Rudy loved his family more than words can describe. And though none of the Master's Men were blood kin, we felt like part of the Partin clan. At almost every church we visited there was a Partin cousin, aunt or uncle in the house. He was proud of his daughters Heather and Mandy, and at virtually every service Rudy's wife Mary Wiatt was sitting near the front, supporting the ministry.
Rudy was empowered by his relationship with God. As he described his calling about 10 years ago, he was walking down the street past his childhood church when God stopped him in his tracks. "It was like a cylinder had been placed around me and I could not move," he said.
Rudy answered God's call in 1995 and formed The Master's Men, a 16-voice male a cappella group dedicated to sharing the word of the Lord in song. All 16 singers he invited came to the group. Over the years members have come and gone with family and job changes, but today 23 singers sincerely stand in front of congregations and deliver the Gospel in song two or three times a month.
The Master's Men have sung in over 300 churches in North and South Carolina and Virginia, to congregations large and small. Through our recordings we have touched thousands more, literally around the world, with our music being heard on all seven continents!
As singers, we saw the side of Rudy the congregation didn't see. And we'll always remember his smile when a chord rang especially well.
God has called our director home. He will be sorely missed on earth, but much appreciated in heaven.
The Lord has a new choir director.
